Andrew Shaw was a graduate of Sarasota High School and Duke University. He was a senior shareholder for 25 years in the Sarasota law firm of Fergeson, Skipper, Shaw, and Tirbassi and was head of the firm’s litigation department until the summer of 2000.
While enjoying the practice of law, Andy still found time to nurture his passion for automobiles, specifically those manufactured by the Ford Motor Company. In December of 1997, he bought the then defunct Ford Motor Company franchise in Jackson County, NC, and opened a brand-new facility located on East Main Street Sylva, NC, across from the newly opened Walmart.
Through an Asheville Rotary Club connection, Andy met Larry Hinton who was running a Body Shop in Asheville at the time. The two met and discussed the financials and future of the dealership for several months and in December of 2001, Andy and Larry partnered together to create a dealership with a clear focus of serving western North Carolina for all its automotive needs.
Since that time, Andy Shaw Ford has earned numerous awards for its commitment to customer service, including the prestigious President’s Award from the Ford Motor Company. Andy Shaw Ford thanks the citizens of western North Carolina for their support and looks forward to many more years of serving the area!
